2022 held some surprises for me that brought up intense emotion: joy of the highest order to grief at my deepest levels.

So I did the only thing I know how to do – I threw all of it onto a panel. All the light. All the dark. The bumpy texture, the smooth silky finish. It’s all right there, saying what I still can’t quite articulate.

This piece is called “the Catalyst.” It’s a launch-off point to a completely different way of moving through life. It’s the recognition of a joyous gift that has begun a transformation within me that hasn’t fully come to fruition just yet.

The Catalyst is a mixed media and mounted glass on a wood panel substrate. The overall dimensions are 28″ x 32″. It arrives unframed but ready to hang on french cleats. For those that wish to frame the piece, I recommend a canvas floater frame.

Representing abundance, this textural piece is finished in colors of berries and gold. This oblong vessel sits upon a reclaimed wood stand that elevates it literally and figuratively.

Measuring 16″ wide, by 6″ deep by 7″ tall, this vessel makes an impact where ever it is displayed.

We discussed several options, and settled on a 12″ shallow bowl that would fit perfectly in her dark wood shelving unit.

The shelving above our wet bar needed an object of art. I wanted something unique and in a medium we didn’t already have throughout the house. I came across Mira’s shop and knew immediately that one of her exquisite glass bowls would make a perfect addition to our home.

I contacted Mira to request a commission. I sent the ideal diameter and color pallet with photos of the intended display location. Mira sent me renderings, I chose one, and she transformed it into a stunning bowl. My experience was enjoyable.

This art bowl is not a literal representation of my surroundings that day – even though that is often my inspiration. This one is a representation of my inner life that day. To put it to words, it is a cross between the feeling of coming home and close connection.

Lakeside Vessel is 16″ in diameter and created from reclaimed glass, pigments and variegated metal foils.

Each sculpture includes a raw steel stand that is individually welded to artfully display the sculpture. The steel stand will develop surface rust over time creating an artful juxtaposition between the stand and the glossy surface of the glass.
