Creating this 12″ bowl was a fun and interesting challenge. My client wanted a specific shade of yellow to be incorporated with mottled sunset colors.

Yellow is a color I have avoided in the past, but I’m a convert. After several tests and experiments, I was able to create a marigold shade of yellow. I love it so much, I’m already using it in other new works.

This is the Sunset Bowl. It is 12″ diameter and now lives in a beautiful home in Texas.

The vessel is created from reclaimed glass and is finished in orange and yellow pigments and variegated metal foil. It measures 10″ diameter.

This 16″ vessel was commissioned for a southern California residence. The citrus colors of tangerine and lime were very fun to work with. It’s just a splash of California Joy!

Making a Statement

There are many ways to make a statement. You can make signs, march in the streets and donate your hard earned cash to your cause. You can also display an art piece in your space as a subtle sign of solidarity with all who enter.

My Clients Have the Best Ideas

Recently, I was commissioned to make a rainbow bowl for an enchanting cabin in the woods. (I know it is enchanting because I got to see photos of it.) After the commission was underway, it was cancelled in favor of a larger bowl already in stock. I was relieved at the change of course since I was juggling one too many plates (or, in this case, bowls.) Once things settled down, I finished the design of the bowl and turned it into a limited production piece. Why didn’t I think of a rainbow bowl before?

Rainbows tend to mean different things to different people. For me, it reminds me of my time as a pre-teen when rainbows and unicorns adorned almost all my worldly possessions, especially my sticker collection. It represents a time of innocence, just before life came on in full force. Whatever a rainbow means to you, I hope you’ll join me in appreciating the uniqueness in this bowl, and the uniqueness in anyone else who might also appreciate it.
