You can’t live in the Lodi Appellation and avoid the build up of anticipation for the grape harvest. It starts at the beginning of summer, as the grapes begin to take shape on the vine. As harvest nears, passers by can see the fruit visible from the road as they drive past mile after mile of vineyards. In Fall, just as the summer heat is at its peak, wine making fever takes over. It’s harvest time. The annual festival is on and hundreds of wineries hold grape stomp events in which adventurous souls step into the vat and stomp the juice from grapes with bare feet.
