Chasen Galleries is a fine art gallery representing contemporary artists, glass artisans, and sculptors from around the world. It was no easy feat to be included, so I consider it a great honor. Each of the 100+ artists had to be nominated to enter, then pass through a rigorous jury prior to acceptance.

The result? The best of the best in beautifully-made, handcrafted American goods that educate the public about climate change or inspire or model a sustainable response to climate change.

It’s the FIRST show of its kind.

The show is being produced by the Smithsonian Women’s Committee (the same committee that organizes the well-known Smithsonian Craft Shows.) Proceeds of the event support grants to the Smithsonian.

Cobalt Fine Arts Gallery is a celebration of southwest contemporary art and the visions and perspective of the artists that live here. 

Founded in 2002 by a grandfather-mother-daughter trio, Cobalt Gallery has grown from a family passion project into one of the leading art galleries in Arizona.  A long-standing part of Tubac’s historic art community, Cobalt focuses on painting as well as art glass, ceramics, jewelry and high-quality craft. Each piece has a distinctive take on color and dimension, providing visitors with rich visual and emotional experiences. This rich curated mix of fine art, jewelry and gifts is a must-see for collectors and art enthusiasts alike.

Much of Cobalt’s emergence can be credited to majority partner and director Mesia Hachadorian (pronounced Meesha). She is an art lover who comes from a family of artists and has studied with curators in Florence, Tuscany, Rome and Venice. Her keen eye for color and fine detail, as well as her love for art, makes her helpful to collectors choosing pieces that will work best in their spaces.

In my day-to-day, I make a lot of small things while I wait for the kiln to run on larger projects. For example, instead of making test tiles, I often make small jewelry pieces to test out colors and ideas. It’s a fun outlet.

So, I’ve decided to add them to a small gift shop on my site. The shop will not carry any of my gallery work – you’ll still find all of those pieces where you usually do. Instead, the gift-shop will only feature items that are not available for wholesale.

Like Everyone, Artists are Struggling

In the US at least, most artists are not qualifying for economic aid designated for small business owners. Even as I write this post, the highly publicized expanded unemployment benefits have not been set up. Artists are struggling, and at this point, there is no clear end in sight.

But, the #artistsupportpledge is something we can do right now.

Here is my commitment:

All sales made through my online gift shop of small and studio sale items will count toward the threshold. I am committed to adding more small pieces in the following weeks. I will announce this commitment and new shop addition on Instagram. As outlined in the pledge, when I hit the sales threshold, I will pay it forward to another committed artist.

In addition, I will also feature other artists who have committed to the #artistsupportpledge in my Instagram Stories. So, even if you’re not in the market for one of my pieces at this time, I’ll help you find the right piece for you so that you can jump in and help artists pay it forward. HISTORY

Seattle Glassblowing Studio was founded in 1991 by Cliff Goodman in the tradition of the studio glass movement. After beginning his career in glass in 1976, Cliff attended the famous Pilchuck School and studied alongside glass master Fritz Driesbach. Cliff’s artwork is featured in collections around the world.

GOTTLING Home Store is a Luxury home furnishing and art gallery located in The Shops at Wailea, the premier shopping, dining and entertainment destination of the Wailea Resort community on Maui. The home store was founded by the established interior designer Karl D. Gottling, creator of the Madison Avenue-style showroom next to Tiffany & Co. and PRADA. His grandiose 3,500 square foot retail space showcases an impressive collection of fine antiques and new furniture. Represented are also over 37 renowned Maui artists, (and now, Mira Woodworth from California!) whose original artworks are prominently displayed. Wood and stone sculptures as well as paintings, and art glass can be enjoyed here while browsing. Gottling has made his mark in designing luxury resorts, villas, and restaurants internationally.
